Ward Conference and Temple Trip

Welcome to the new Bishopric!

On the 13th of the September, we said goodbye to our former bishopric and hello to the new.

It was a bittersweet day knowing that Bishop Porter, Bro Huxtable, and Bro Winterton would no longer be joining us in our ward, but we are excited to welcome Bishop Swenson, Brother Frampton, and Brother Philipoom (and of course their wives and families). We had a wonderful weekend retreat at Brother Winterton's condo in Midway
we had some amazing lessons from the girls in the ward which included a
video courtesy of Mandy Cannon from the perspective of the Priesthood in the ward and
their take on Relief Society and Dating. Lots of interesting insights.

We had a blast ice skating tonight at the Olympic Oval! Our FHE committee did a fabulous job!

When looking at these pictures, please keep in mind that ice skaters are moving targets, and in addition, my camera is cheap. But at least we had fun, right?

The Fall Fair - Doughnut Eating Contest

This was the first activity at the Fall Fair.

All the doughnuts were tied to a string and hung on the volleyball net. The rules were you could not use your hands and whoever ate their doughnut first was the winner.

Fall Fair 2008 with the Holladay 11th ward

The fall fair was a lot of fun and included many different activities. We did a doughnut eating contest, pass the apple (only using your neck to pass them), a pie eating contest, bowling with pumpkins and a few more fun activities. Lots of people came and it turned out to be a pretty grand affair! Thanks FHE committee!

Fall Fair - October 6

Remember the days of Halloween parties in elementary school, or maybe games in seminary when you would pass the orange nestled in your neck to the next person in line without using your hands? Well, those days are back!

The FALL FAIR, combined with the 11th ward, will have them all! Pumpkin bowling, Donut-on-a-string eating contest, Lifesaver-Toothpick game, Costume Relays, Mini-pumpkin Passing, Root Beer and Orange Soda floats, caramel apples... just imagine the fun!

The Fall Fair will be held at the ward at 7pm on October 6. Costumes are welcome, but not required. Just bring your friends and roommates to enjoy the fun. We'll see you all there!

Rock Climbing

Rock climbing was a blast! Thanks to Erik Haslam and his buddies for getting all the gear and setting up all the ropes, etc for us. Check out the fun pictures from that night.

This Sunday, September 14, is our Regional Conference. Do not meet at the ward, but head to the Conference Center downtown instead. The Regional Conference begins at 10am... don't be late!

Monday, September 15 FHE- rock climbing at Pete's Rock at the base of Mt Olympus! Meet at 7pm at the ward
The ward will provide the shoes, harnesses, and helmets. Just bring your friends with you! (Headlamps are also a good idea as the sun begins to set)

Monday, Aug 25 we will have a very inventive FHE. Pillow Hockey. We'll be playing hockey, but our puck will be a small pillow and you can use a hockey stick or just a broom stick if you don't have a hockey stick... like me! If you don't want to play, we'd love to see you still, even if you just cheer on those who are playing

It starts at 7pm at the church. See you there!

Boating Trip at East Canyon

This weekend was awesome! Thanks to the activities committee for putting together a great boating trip for our ward. There were lots of memorable moments from this weekend...

There were a lot more people up there this weekend who didn't get their camera time with me.
